Looking for a quick trip, or to add extra adventure to another Mexico tour? This four-day Cancún experience might be the answer to your travel prayers. Your sweeter-than-sweet hostel in Cancún's “hotel zone” will be your home-base for doing as much, or as little, as you want. Want to explore the area? Head out of the city on an excursion to a local community where you’ll prepare (and devour) some regional dishes, before swimming in a nearby cenote. Of course, you’ll have plenty of ways to spend your free time, like optional day trips to Isla Mujeres or Playa del Carmen, or just kicking back at the beach or by the hostel pool.
Highlights
- Stay at a hostel near the beach in the hotel zone
- Travel to a local community to try your hand at regional recipes
- Go swimming in a cenote
- Enjoy free time for optional activities and day trips
- Relax on the beach and swim in the turquoise water of the Mayan Riviera

For a tour in Cancun, I would have liked the hostel to have access to the beach. Or at least be close to the beach, we were in a bay that had neither beach nor swimming. I didn't think the hostel was super great, but it was OK. I would also have liked to know that there was a pre-tour group that you could join. Everyone was very nice, but you join an existing group. The excursions and planned tours were great! The tour guide Laura was great! But I could have done with more of a programme, that's what I book a tour for. There was a lot of free time for 4 days. All in all it was very nice, but not a 10/10.

Always have a great experience with G Adventures. Although this was only a quick tour the while group and guide were fantastic. Lau Malacara did a brilliant job, super friendly and helpful

Because I have done 3 trips with G Adventures so far and all 3 of them exceeded my expectations: itinerary are well planned, everything is organised and tour leaders has been always brilliant

I think my trip was incredible, but the hostel situation wasn't the best. The dorm room in Selina smelled bad and some of girls left to find another room. I didn't leave the room, but my bag and personal belongings were taken after I came back from our activities. We talked to the manager and they agreed to give us a private room and free water. I'm glad we resolved the issue, but them taking our belongings was unacceptable. What if someone stole it? Would Selina compensate us?

It was a good experience but I was staying at the hostel longer than the trip so they put me in a single room. If I was put in a standard dorm it would have been fine but a little less enjoyable.

I have never gotten to experience anything like what G Adventures/ Roamies has to offer - and Constanza was a phenomenal guide and a fun person to travel with.

Best way to travel on your own and still not be lonely and feel safe

On this tour there were many activities listed on the itinerary that we didn't do. We also weren't told that we would be tagging on to the end of a two week tour and we were not made to feel welcome joining the group.

Hostels not for everyone (ie older people)

Traveling with young people in small groups is much more fun, as everything from culture to party is included. However, the difference to the 18-3something category is not clear to me.

I wish there was a bit more action.

The Selina Hostel in Cancun had a lot of issues. they'did not have towels or sheets available at first and also said they could only give out 2 keys to a shared dorm. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and I tried a bunch of times to request a bottom bunk (which i did not get) and was told I was unable to do so.
