Get set for an adventure packed with roaming wildlife, remote desert landscapes, semi-nomadic tribal communities and natural wonders – this is South Africa! From Cape Town, this 22-day overland adventure takes you on a ride through Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. See a burnt orange sunset over Fish River Canyon, take a river cruise through Chobe National Park and canoe down the Okavango Delta. Embark on a game drive in Etosha National Park, look out for the Big Five and the endangered black rhino and feel the raw power of Victoria Falls on a journey filled with the very best of southern Africa.
Highlights
- Enjoy a full-day game drive in Etosha National Park – home to a wide range of Southern Africa's wildlife, including the endangered black rhino.
- Glide through the lily-pad-clad waterways of the Okavango Delta on a mokoro (a small dugout canoe) and escape civilization with an overnight stay at your island camp surrounded by hippos.
- Listen to the songs and stories of Namibia’s San people, the oldest inhabitants of Southern Africa, and gain an insight into their traditional customs and beliefs.
- Take an optional cruise down the Chobe River for the opportunity to get up close (but not too personal!) to hippos, crocodiles and the Chobe icon – the magnificent African elephant.
- Be mesmerized by the staggering force and beauty of Victoria Falls, and experience first-hand why it’s renowned as the ‘smoke that thunders’ – a natural wonder that must be seen to be believed.

Absolutely incredible. Not one negative word to say about the trip, the guides or the activities. Would recommend this to EVERYONE!

The tour itself takes one through incredible landscapes where you get to experience bush camps and get close to local wildlife. There are some long travel days and early morning risers but that comes with the territory when over-landing through Southern Africa. If Intrepid can figure out a way to do less border crossings between Botswana and Namibia, as we went back and forth twice, I would’ve loved more time in Botswana. Overall a good itinerary; I met some wonderful fellow travellers and local crew that made the trip very memorable.

The thing that makes this trip memorable is the many different types of landscapes, flora and fauna and the people you encounter. I thoroughly enjoyed the wild, open spaces of Namibia, the diverse ecosystem of the Okavango Delta and the awesome power of the Victoria Falls. To top it all off, you will be travelling through a number of world heritage sites that will need to be protected by us and future generations.

I totally loved this trip. The crew were absolutely fantastic in how they looked after us, totally above and beyond. I’m 50+ and vegan - food was great (thanks OT), MJ knowledgeable and enthusiastic and Odoyo was Mr Fixit The animals, history, culture and other travellers. I’d totally recommend.

A mind expanding, heart warming trip, with all the logistics brilliantly managed. Our guide, cook, driver were absolutely brilliant - they really made the trip. Super experienced staff and well thought through at every step. Intrepid is B Corp certified which adds to their credibility as a responsible company. Super impressed

Amazing tour with very friendly staff. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share it with the group, as well as being very approachable and friendly at all times. Itinerary was great, and allowed a bit of freedom in choosing activities. Overall amazing first adventure to Africa, would 100% recommend

This trip was absolutely fantastic, highlight after highlight, the itinerary was varied and even the long travelling days were comfortable with always something of interest out of the window. If you are worried about the camping don’t be , the facilities are clean and hot showers were available most nights . I advise three precautions however. 1. Check the diversity of the group before you book If you are over 50. Over half my group were single young women and at times I wondered if I was on an 18-30 holiday by mistake . 2. Our group totalled 11 which meant we had loads of space to stretch out in the truck . Not sure I would have enjoyed the trip so much with double that number of people. 2. If you are a tea drinker then take your own primus. Frustratingly our cook was very reluctant to boil a kettle even though he knew I was an early morning tea drinker and had brought my own tea bags and didn’t need milk. Tea was only available with breakfast .. or at best 10 mins before and that was after some persuasion.

We had a wonderful southern African adventure and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Our amazing crew of John the driver, Simon the cook and of course Nash our funny and knowledgable leader elevated the trip to one of the best I’ve ever done. The itinerary is amazing. Camping is a good laugh and the inclusions of the trip are wide ranging and of high quality. If I could give it 6 stars, I 100% would!!

This trip by far exceeded my expectations! Amazing itinerary, incredible campsites, and the best crew looking after us. Highly recommend!!

Visiting Southern Africa was my dream for a very long time and this trip exceeded my expectations big time. Perfectly planned, organised and executed thanks to an amazing crew of Nash, John and Simon who made a group of (initially) strangers feel like a family. Trip day by day was getting better, keeping us all super excited to what it is still to come. I would recommend it to anyone who feels ‘Africa calling’.

A really immersive experience of life in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. Plus extraordinary landscape, iconic animals, good meals, hot showers and comfy sleep.

Great trip and variety of activities, though slows down at the end with too many half days and campsites without activities

A fantastic itinerary with an extraordinary crew (shoutout to Stanley, Charles, and Samuel)— I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to Southern Africa than with Intrepid.

This is a good trip, if a bit rushed. We saw a lot in a short time. Be prepared for lots of road travel. The crew of Mambo, Kawaya, and Charlo were great and worked well together. We were accurately briefed every night on the next day’s activities.
