This is a poorly designed questionnaire. You should have asked what we specifically liked and didn’t like. You should have asked for suggestions for changes in the itinerary. You should have asked what we thought of the other tour guides, namely Igor in Turkmenistan and Nazira in Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan.

A fantastic blend of cities, nature, history & culture. Highly recommended if you have an interest in the silk road & want a trip with a lot of variety but have limited time. I would have loved it to be a few days longer! Our tour leaders were excellent!

I could not have asked for a better organized trip. The tours and transportation were prompt, the included meals were plentiful and delicious. All the guides spoke English very well and their local knowledge was on point.

Merv should be included in this trip. Skipping this city made the trip lose a couple of points. For the rest 2 days in Ashgabat is not the waste of time. My general feeling is positive and I definitely recommend this trip.

This was a less stressful and more relaxed tour than I expected. Well organised and well executed.

Mindblowing! From surreal Turkmenistan, to amazing mosques and mausoleums of Usbekistan, the mountains and lakes of Tajikistan, the endless steppes of Kasachstan and the nomadic culture of the Kirgis people. It’s a trip of a lifetime.

This was an amazing trip through the 5 'Stans'. Both tour leaders, Rejep and Nazira were fabulous and knowledgeable. It is a very fast paced tour so you are on the go a lot and its also fairly active with lots of walking. There is so much to see and do and each country is so diverse. I learnt so much about their history and cultures and wished I could have stayed longer. If you are thinking about it, just do it. Its sensational.

Fabulous trip, experiencing and learning about these little-known countries which were the centre of world trade ('silk road') in centuries past. Amazing culture, intriguing politics, vast landscapes and breathtaking mountain scenery.

This is an excellent itinerary. It provides a balance between history, culture, engaging activities and dramatic scenery. The quality of the guides and the organisation of the trip was excellent. The accommodation places were warmly receptive and helpful. They usually went out of their way in anticipating our requests. Loved it.

This is a great trip for anyone wanted to explore the stans. Most of the trip focuses on Uzbekistand whhich has a lot to offer, and you get a good taster of the other stans! I really enjoyed all of it!

A fantastic trip taking in five very distinct countries. I enjoyed the mix of the unbelievable in Turkmenistan, the history in Uzbekistan, and the amazing natural scenery in Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Our tour leader, Nazira, was fantastic in her knowledge, organisation, enthusiasm and tirelessness.

24 days thru 5 Stans - each unique and filled w/ centuries of culture, diversity, natural beauty - struggling to position themselves in today’s world. A crash course in history, geography, geopolitics, psychology. Bordered by mammoth China and Russia - they were all part of the former USSR - it’s a fine game they play - respecting these giants - at the same time shedding their influence. An appropriate time to visit - tourism is gradually mainstreaming. Kudos to the operator - Intrepid - for meticulously creating an itinerary that gave us a glimpse of various aspects of this enchanted space.

Pleasantly surprised with my trip to the 5 Stans as it was my first group trip ever and friends had used Intrepid in the past. It exceeded my expectations and was exhilarating, sometimes exhausting, informative … my knowledge of history in this area has improved tenfold! The tour leader was fantastic, our needs were met and all requests met. I choose single supplement and was glad I had as at end of long days with so much human contact it was great ti have some recharge time. Overall this trip requires a level of fitness and Stamina as so much is covered. I Treasure the memories and new friendships gained.

Ever aspect of the trip was great apart from the lack of warm bedding at Darvaza. The tour guides Nazira,Jem and Regep were consistently excellent.Hotel accommodation ,food arrangements and the yurts at Issy Kul lake were first class.
