Day 1: Havana
Arrive in Havana at any time and transfer your casa particular. One of the oldest cities in the western hemisphere, Havana was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982. It contains a wealth of colonial architecture, and the old city and streets around the malecon (ocean-side walkway) are best discovered on foot.
After the group welcome meeting at 6pm, we will be heading out for a meal in a nearby local restaurant (optional). If you arrive late, the leader will leave you a message at the front desk.
Exclusive inclusions: Transport - You will be met at the airport and transferred to the start location to start your adventure. Please note, the included arrival transfer is from Havana's José Martí International Airport (HAV). If you are flying into Varadero (VRA) you will need to pre-pay a supplement to receive a transfer. Please reach out to your G Adventures booking agent for pricing and availability.Activity - Your opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travellers, and learn more about your tour. Opt to join the group for a local meal afterwards. Day 2: Havana
Learn more about the city's history on an included walking tour of Old Havana. After, enjoy an included tour in vintage automobiles. Revel in the bustle, history, and rhythms of this fascinating Caribbean capital city. After lunch spend time exploring Havana with a free afternoon.

See city highlights that may include La Catedral de San Cristóbal de La Habana, the Palacio de los Marqueses de Aguas Claras (which now houses a restaurant), the Museo de Arte Colonial and the Plaza de Armas, with its statue of Manuel de Céspedes (one of the leaders of the Cuban independence movement). Use this walk as a jumping off point to explore the rest of this lively city.Free_time - Spend the afternoon discovering some of Havana's iconic sites. Day 3: Viñales
A short trip west brings us to "The Garden Province" of Pinar del Rio and to the Valley of Viñales with the town of the same name. Enjoy an included cigar tour en route before getting your cameras ready for the lush vistas and pincushion hills around Viñales, called mogotes.

Fans of the ubiquitous Cuban cigar will be hard-pressed not to be impressed by the fields of green plants punctuated by thatch roof drying hut. Then witness a demonstration of how the cured leaves are hand-rolled, cut and packaged. Prepare for the heady smell of tobacco. Day 4: Viñales
Arguably one of the prettiest natural areas in Cuba, take the chance to explore the area, or simply sit back and enjoying the view.

A trip south brings us through the beautiful Topes de Collantes region to the southern coastal city and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trinidad. We include a tour of the area to get your general bearings; the rest of the time is free to wander the cobblestone streets, shop, and experience the great music scene that has made this city famous.

Day 8: Trinidad/Havana
Head east along the Carretera Central to the city of Santa Clara, a key location in the history of the Revolution. On your way into town visit key historical sites, including the massive Che monument (Santa Clara is also the final resting place of Che Guevara).
Travel back to the north coast to Havana for your final night on the town with the group.

See local embroidered techniques used to create garments and souvenirs, and learn how local women organization has impacted the community and those who visit it. Planeterra and G Adventures have supported with providing technical assistance to start up the business, capacity building and guidance to create a local experience.Activity - Set eyes on a 6.7m (22ft) bronze statue of Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara standing tall atop a mausoleum erected to mark the 20th anniversary of Guevara’s murder in Bolivia. Tour the mausoleum lit by an eternal flame ignited by Fidel Castro. When meals are not included, your tour leader (where available) will be happy to help with restaurant recommendations, bookings, and directions. You are responsible for your personal belongings throughout the tour. You will need to carry your own bags between the vehicle and your hotel room. Drivers will assist with loading and unloading luggage from the vehicle.

This trip would be perfect for somebody interested in this kind of travel because it offers a lot of security and local knowledge/guidance that really helps ease any anxieties of travelling in a country that is not always depicted in the best way. I will be encouraging everyone who shows the slightest interest in Cuba to book this trip as it was truly a life changing experience that was well planned, safe, incredibly fun and showcased the beauty of Cuba and it's people. It is such a shame that there is so much fear mongering surrounding Cuba and trips like this led by amazing locals have the potential to start to shift that.

This trip to Cuba was so eye opening and incredible. It was both beautiful and emotional. I would recommend this to anyone in order to bring more people to the country to understand what they are going through and hopefully shed more light on the situation in Cuba.
