Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali/Bwindi Impenetrable NP
The tour begins at 8am in the morning of Day 1 at your Kigali hotel (not included). Please be on time to meet your driver/guide at the front entrance of the hotel. A brief departure meeting will be held in the hotel reception area about general and specific aspects of the trip before setting off to Bwindi.
We strongly recommend arriving the day before as this trip does not include a night in Kigali.
Day 2: Gorilla Trek
A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bwindi's Impenetrable Forest is a true African jungle. About half of the world's mountain gorillas live here.
Ugandan authorities are fiercely protective of this natural treasure and permit only a maximum of 8 passengers per day (currently) to visit the gorillas.
Start with a short drive to the park headquarters and meet with your excellent local guides. The guides will provide a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. The trekking group will then head into the forest where the gorillas were the night before and track from that point. If desired, porters can be hired and will carry your personal items and assist you during the trek.
Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable NP/Kigali
- Flights to and from origin and destinations
- Airport transfers (arrival and departure)
- Anything else not explicitly listed in tour inclusions
- Recommended gratuities/tipping
- Optional activities/tours
- Personal expenses
- Travel insurance
- Visas, meals and beverages not stated in the list of inclusions.
When meals are not included, your tour leader (where available) will be happy to help with restaurant recommendations, bookings, and directions. Please let us know if you have any dietary needs or preferences. We willdo our best to accommodate these, though we cannot guarantee that every request can be met.
You are responsible for your personal belongings throughout the tour. You will need to carry your own bags between the vehicle and your hotel room. Drivers will assist with loading and unloading luggage from the vehicle.
Travellers requiring wheelchair access should contact our sales and service team, who can make enquiries on your behalf.
This tour requires an Average level of fitness. Activities are paced gently and include leisure time. You may be expected to join guided walks of up to one hour, navigate short stairways and mild inclines, and manage your own luggage. You should also be able to board and exit all transport without assistance.
Travellers are expected to be self-sufficient and capable of handling all aspects of their journey. Please discuss your circumstances and support needs with your booking agent to confirm this trip is suitable.
If you are unsure, we recommend consulting your doctor before booking or travelling. (Note: I assume each tour has a different description depending on level of fitness required).

it's it better to travel in a small vehicle with a private guide then on a big bus with a large group

I mostly take fixed date tours but adding an independent tour allows me to more easily fit all the dates together with my flights.

The travel guide provided no information about the area & provided very little advice. We felt we lacked understanding of the situation. While driving he did not give a commentary about the interesting culture of the area . So I felt like we missed out on a whole experience. In fact it was rather uncomfortable! The tour guides at the gorilla national park were very good & very informative & helpful

Excellent and well organised trip but I'm aware it's a very expensive trip with many meals not included, which some friends and family members may not be able to afford

Travelling on my own, I constantly felt safe & comfortable with Sam. My expectations were exceeded, and for that I am very thankful.

The experience itself

My CEO, Sibo, was fantastic - he is an incredible story teller, and to learn about his personal experience during the Rwandan genocide made the experience all the more meaningful. He is kind, thoughtful, and very knowledgeable. His love of the Rwandan and Ugandan cultures, landscapes, people, and animals is infectious. Experiencing the gorilla trek was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. As challenging as the trek was, it was of course worth it to be so close to the powerful and peaceful animals.

Because our tour guide Eric was outstanding with his ability to educate and inform us on the surrounding land of Rwanda and Uganda

I felt that for this independent tour, it wasn't well organised for the price I payed. It was poorly organised, when I had the welcome meeting I was told we didn't know where we would be staying that night and we would set off and find out on the road. I then arrived at the hotel which was not acceptable for the price I payed. There was no activities that I could take part in during free time, there was no other tourists in the hotel in which I couldn't leave the hotel and there was no where I could go eat. Very disappointed with this tour
