Itinerary
Day 1: Madrid
Please make your own way to the joining hotel.
If arriving early, head out and explore the city. Madrid has it all; history, architecture, museums, galleries, beautiful parks, and wild nightlife. The capital's most exciting street is the Gran Vía, but be sure to visit the Plaza Mayor – the true heart of Madrid. Enjoy a coffee in one of the plaza's many cafés and watch the world go by.
After the group meeting, opt to head out for a meal at a local restaurant with the group.
Day 2: Madrid
Other options for exploring the city include the Palacio Real, Real Jardin Botánico or Escorial. Experience more nightlife at the Plaza del Dos de Mayo, in the area known as Malasaña. Taste some sangria and dance to the latest music.
Day 3: Madrid/Córdoba
Head out tonight to sample some local food. Try the thick, hearty stew called "caldereta de cordero" or cool off with "ajo blanco," a hearty white gazpacho soup.
Day 4: Córdoba/Granada
Opt to visit the Granada Cathedral of the Incarnation or the Royal Chapel.
Day 5: Granada
After visiting the Alhambra, opt to wander through the whitewashed historic quarter of the Albaicin, with its narrow lanes and fantastic views. This is a great place to go to catch the sunset.
In the evening, opt for a night on the town. The city is filled with trendy tapas bars and has a lively music scene.
Day 6: Granada/Seville
Day 7: Seville
Have a chance to savour some tapas at the city's many bars and cafés.

Lalo was fantastic!! He added so much to the trip. It would not have been as good as it was without him. He made us feel comfortable everywhere! He obtained local guides that were wonderful. THe accommodations were fine, except for the hotel in Madrid - Acta Medfor. In fact, I arrived a day early and paid for one day. Although I made my reservation two months early, they charged me 244 Euros for one night, which was outrageous as it was a much lower quality hotel. My buddy on the trip also did the same and she was only charged 130 euros. Can't figure it out but feel ripped-off. I should have stayed some place else but only stayed there for the convenience of joining the tour.

Great itinerary and spectacular guide but the exclusive dependence on public transportation resulted in numerous instances of "hurry up and wait." The day trip to Toledo, for instance, involved waits of 30-45 minutes at the bus terminal in both directions. Other tours we've been on always had buses rented for such activities, the result being more time at the destination. Yes, I know that those tours were pricier, but for a once in a lifetime trip, a somewhat higher price tag would be palatable.

Lalo has a wonderful way of gathering everyone together by calling us "familia". It is an example of his warm friendly style, he never nags, never looses his cool, he is the best group leader I have ever encountered.

If you are looking for a lot of 'book it yourself' this is the place. I did not compare pricing or how much was not prearranged. Generally mornings were a familiarization tour and travelers needed to book any other activities. The accommodations were marginal -- the earliest were extremely basic. The tour manger/director was high energy and knowledgeable -- but pace was only for the actively fit. Many day trips were by public transport. I booked based on itinerary not activity level and it did include my 'must do' in Granada. The day at Toledo was an unexpected pleasure since we toured with a very knowledgeable guide. I would not use again.
