At 5,895m (19,340 ft), Mt Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest peak and this adventure along the Marangu Route will get you to the top safely, quickly, and with your budget in mind. Overnight in mountain huts and awake ready to conquer the slopes. Affectionately known as the Coca-Cola Route due to its popularity, Marangu covers forests, moorlands, and the Saddle (a high-altitude desert), on its way to Kibo Hut. This is the quickest route to the summit — with a catch: The trail is well-maintained but because of the quick ascent, the success rate is not as high as other routes. Local guides, cooks, and porters will provide support during your trek and at mountain huts along the way.
Highlights
- Sleep in mountain huts on the trek
- Witness Africa from atop its highest mountain
- Marvel at sunrise on the summit

Itinerary
Day 1: Moshi
Arrive in Moshi and head to the hotel. Attend a pre-departure meeting with the local guide to go over last minute details of the trip.
Day 2: Moshi/Mandara Huts
Most days the hiking will begin early in the morning, with hikes of around 5 to 6 hours. The guides will set a moderate pace, so as to allow for time to acclimatize to the altitude changes. Guides will continually repeat the words, “pole pole” (po-ly, po-ly), which means “go slowly” in Swahili.
Day 3: Mandara Huts/Horombo Huts
Day 4: Horombo Huts/Kibo Huts
Day 5: Kibo Huts/Horombo Huts
Day 6: Horombo Huts/Moshi
Transfer by shuttle bus to Moshi. Time to relax, take a shower, and celebrate with a drink. Cheers to climbing Mt Kilimanjaro! Before dinner, you will be welcomed and congratulated on your climb by the mamas of the Moshi Women's Cooperative, a project supported by G Adventures. They will present you with a gift and a certificate to remember all your efforts on the mountain.
Opt to pre-book the Lala Salama Spa & Beauty Aromatherapy Massage, which partners with Moshi Women's Cooperative, by adding it to your checkout page, or ask your GCO or travel agent for assistance.

My overall Kilimanjaro experience via the 5 day Marangu route was awesome. The G team made it all possible and comfortable. Without their enthusiasm and knowledge it would have been a completely different experience.

Very very cool, I would definitly do it again and would recommend it. As mentioned before I would have liked an additional acclimatization day as other firms provide.

It was a great experience. I want to thank Moises for waking us up and telling us goodnight, for being so kind and accommodating. I want to thank Hamed for his kindness and attentiveness, Regan, Suju, and Sandi for carrying my bag all the way and safely....

Overall this experience was truly incredible and something I'll never forget. I don't think I've ever done anything more physically and mentally challenging than getting to Uhuru Peak the day we summited, but it was so rewarding.

I had fantastic memories on this trip. I personally am not a very athletic person, and encountered some difficulties in the big summit day. The crews were all very encouraging, accommodating my pace, taking care of me, and getting me to the final point!

The mountain was difficult but the staff did the best job they could to get the group where we needed to go. I stayed healthy and made it to the top thanks to them.

Kilimanjaro is a challenging mountain. More challenging than I initially thought. But it was, overall, a great experience thanks to our CEO and his amazing team. They helped, motivated and taught us so much. I wouldn’t have chosen any other way to do it!...
