Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu
Our hotel is located in Patan, as such we have included the entrance ticket to nearby Patan Durbar Square where you can explore on your own.
Day 2: Kathmandu
Take a tour of the world heritage site of Bhaktapur and visit Swayambhunath Temple, also known as the monkey temple, the oldest shrine in Kathmandu. Its lofty white dome and glittering golden spire are visible for many miles!
Later, opt to visit Pashupatinath, the most famous Hindu temple in the country, located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River.
Day 3: Kathmandu/Pokhara
A lively ride along stunning scenery brings us from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Day 4: Pokhara
Day 5: Pokhara to Chitwan National Park
Travel to this UNESCO World Heritage Site and enjoy an overnight cultural experience with the indigenous Tharu community. Experience their culture through dance and song, along with a traditional meal in the familial dining area. In the evening, retreat back to your private thatched cottage to watch the buffalo and goats roaming about.
Continue on to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Royal Chitwan National Park. Known as the Terai Tarai ("moist land"), the landscape you travel through today is a belt of marshy grassland, savannah, and forests at the base of the Himalayas.
Day 6: Chitwan National Park
Explore the national park by 4x4 safari before a guided half-day walk inside the park. Enjoy free time to enjoy some bird watching.
The Terai-Duar region is home to the endangered Indian rhinoceros, as well as elephants, Bengal tigers, bears, leopards, and other wild animals. The Royal Chitwan National Park and Royal Bardia National Park preserve significant sections of habitat for these animals, making them home to some of the greatest concentrations of rhinoceros and tigers left in South Asia.
Day 7: Chitwan National Park to Kathmandu
Return to Kathmandu and enjoy a free afternoon to continue exploring. Opt to visit the burning ghats at Pashupatinath or Boudhanath Stupa.
Day 8: Kathmandu to Thimphu via Paro
Day 9: Thimphu
In the evening, visit the Tashi Chhoedzong, known as the "Fortress of Glorious Religion", initially built in 1702. Today, it houses the main secretariat building, the central monk body, and the office of the king.

G Adventures gave us an authentic cultural experience in Nepal and Bhutan. We experienced the same traffic chaos as the locals in Nepal. Our accommodations were close for walking through old city centres and to view major sights.

Interaction with local citizens was very sincere and authentic giving the visitor a true picture of the reality of their lifestyle.

I would rate/sum up the overall experince as 50/50. The disappointment in the Nepal excursion was not worth it. But the experience in Bhutan overrode the bad trip.

It was a great trip overall and I would do it again! I saw and experienced a lot of things, and I had a great time throughout!

This trip was unbelievably wonderful. It was eye-opening for a lot of reasons, but mostly because I come from such a different culture. To see another society go about their business on any given day and witness it makes me feel very privileged.

Thoroughly enjoyable overall but it would have been good to get out into Bhutanese countryside more - it is so beautiful.

A good trip where we met many interesting people and had good insights into both. Nepal and Bhutan. I do feel it is a cultural trip not trekking. The amount of time spent traveling needs to be honest.

Visiting Nepal and Bhutan have been on my travel bucket list for a long time. Following an amazing first experience with G Adventures while touring China and Japan, I jumped at the opportunity to organize this trip with them.

Great trip, good guides and fascinating locations. Be prepared to learn a lot about Buddhism and seeing many holy sites, temples, and monasteries. Lots of touring and interesting sites but maybe less "Adventure" then many other tours.

This was a once in a lifetime trip for me, and I am so grateful to GAdventures and our wonderful CEOs Jamuna & Jigme for creating a safe, educational, and exciting experience.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm grateful for G because it has given me access to parts of the world that I could not access without a guide, and has made logistics a breeze through skilled and attentive guides and drivers.
