The landscape, scenery, and people of Northern Pakistan. The unpredictability of road travel made for some unexpected, pleasant experiences.

Scenery was outstanding with the peaks of the Hindu Kush, the Karakoram Range and the Himalayas towering over us. Enjoyed the interaction with the local people in the villages, particularly the children who practised their English with us. Also the evening meal we had with a local family where we were able to ask them questions regarding their lifestyle. Enjoyed crossing the river bed in our jeeps when one of our roads was impassable.

Yasin Valley see above, Nanga Parbat walk and base camp. Hunza valley good mix of scenary walks and culture.

The huge landscapes, getting close to big mountains without having to walk for a week, the power of the rivers, picnic lunches in scenic locations, and the friendliness of the Pakistani people.

This trip was beyond my expectations. A proper adventure. The rugged landscape of Northern Pakistan is stunning. The mountains rise steeply from the green valleys and there always seems to be a churning river below the twisting roads. The people of Pakistan are welcoming and very friendly. The local guides and jeep drivers were excellent. Knowledgeable and competent. My fellow travellers on this tour were a great bunch. A good laugh. This is not an easy trip. Prepare yourself for some long days of bumpy travel. Also, expect the unexpected. The rewards though are great. So many memories.

Exploring Pakistan and the Karakoram Highway was a very rewarding experience but it is not for those expecting easy and comfortable travel. Interacting with the Pakistan locals provided a very kind welcome to their culture. Bumpy 4 wheel drive dirt roads were never easy to navigate.
