If you've never been to Peru this is the trip for you! Even though each day is busy, the activities are manageable....speaking as a 72 year old this was important to me!

This was my first trip to Peru. I have to admit that as a 70+Yr old was a little concerned about the physical challenges of this trip but I was reassured by the very knowledgeable experience of our guide, Louis. The whole experience was brilliant and I would strongly encourage a visit to this beautiful country. Shout out too to our travel agents, Trailfinders, who also assisted us in our choice and gave us confidence that this was the right holiday for us.

Overall the tour was excellent, the tour leader and all other guides were excellent. I would recommend this trip to others. However there are two things to improve. Use a hotel in Ollantaytambo instead of driving 40 mins to a hotel, then having to drive back very early in the morning to catch the train. Fly directly for 1h40mins directly from Cusco to Port Maldenado instead of spending all day going via Lima.

My fantastic trip of Peru came to an abrupt end when I was hospitalising for acute mountain sickness in Cusco. The attention and care I received from the intrepid doctor, my team level and the local intrepid office was unbelievable. It was a very scary time for me as I was a solo traveller however everyone at intrepid when above and beyond with helping with the insurance company and ensuring that I had the best hospital care. During this time when I was a long way from my family I felt like I was part of the intrepid family and didn’t feel alone. So for anyone worried about medical emergency there is no need with Intrepid as you will received a level of support you didn’t even know that you needed.

The Intrepid tour we did in Peru exceeded our expectations as we are not the sort of people that do group tours as we like to be independent. We were impressed with the guides who imparted their knowledge with sincererity and humour. We would travel with them again and recommend Intrepid to all ages.

Peru is amazing! Do yourself a favour, book Intrepid Premium Peru now!! If you’re lucky you might get Diana as your leader, she is amazing. If you can find a book called ‘The Last Days Of Incas’ definitely read before you leave, it will help you understand what you see. The one day Inca Trail is so worth it if you’re fit. We had such an amazing and safe time. Enjoy.
