Experience Overview
Take a scenic, nature-focused road trip from San Francisco to bustling Seattle on this nine-day adventure. Kick off your journey with a drive up the coast to see the Avenue of the Giants and Redwood National Park.
Highlights
- Explore Redwoods National Park – home to some of the tallest and most ancient trees in the world – and discover gorgeous parklands, oak woodlands, condors and the Avenue of the Giants drive.
- Walk along the rim of Crater Lake National Park – this natural wonder was formed 7700 years ago from the collapse of a mountain peak and is now the deepest lake in the USA fed by rain and snow.
- Get a feel for what makes the Pacific Northwest’s beaches so special with a visit to Kalaloch, famous for its ‘Tree of Life’ – its roots holding onto nothing but air!
- Head to the USA’s best wine region for Pinot Noir – Willamette Valley – and enjoy a wine tasting at a local winery in the valley, with gorgeous views of sprawling vineyards, hills and forest.
- Wander around natural areas that will inspire awe – like the cascades of Multnomah Falls near Portland and the peaceful Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park.

Go see the trees! Such a great mix of nature and urban landscapes. Great experience to see both.

Unfortunately this was my most disappointing tour ever. You go to beautiful places but you have no time to explore them. 2 hours at Crater Lake, 2 hours at the Hoh Rainforest. I felt like I wasted my money on this. So sorry to say that.

A wonderful tour of the Pacific Northwest. I liked how this tour includes 1 national park in California, Oregon and Washington state to great a broad perspective of the differing natural wonders in this part of the country. Ultimate highlight for me was crater lake, but I greatly enjoyed my time amongst the Redwoods and in the hoh rainforest as well. This is my 5th trip with intrepid and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Best tour.

This was a fantastic trip with a fun itinerary! Just enough time to soak up parts of each state (CA, OR, WA). Ashton is a phenomenal trip leader and I am lucky I got to travel with her! She is knowledgeable, passionate, and extremely thoughtful... and she encouraged me to face my fear of heights with a tree canopy bridge activity! I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to soak up the fierce beauty of the Pacific Northwest!

A brilliant tour covering a mix of National Parks and Cities, a great way to see the Pacific North West.

Our guide Ron went out of his way and was a great leader. I really liked the international group (between 30 and 45 years old) and had a great time! I particularly liked the variety from nature, coastal road and cities on this trip.

As a mature, single woman, I was afraid to travel alone even though I longed to travel. Then I heard about Intrepid and took an amazing tour into the Pacific Northwest. It has opened up the world to me!

A beautiful, fairly relaxed trip in a really special part of the country. The itinerary is well paced and well organised so super enjoyable. The scenery is beautiful in both sunshine and mist so don’t worry about the weather- just embrace it.
