Explore the well-known highlights and lesser-known spots of South East Asia on an epic month-long trip. Starting off in Bangkok, get lost in the chaos of Thailand's capital city before soaking up Chiang Mai’s more relaxed pace. Cruise along the Mekong River to reach peaceful Luang Prabang – a colourful town dotted with monks, pop-up stalls and French-inspired eateries. In Vietnam, cruise through dramatic karst scenery on a boat tour of Ha Long Bay, travel back to the time of Vietnam’s emperors in Hue, soak up the old-world charm of Hoi An and be wowed by the endless energy of Ho Chi Minh City. Then discover Cambodia's fascinating history and culture in Phnom Penh's bustling streets and in the awe-inspiring temples of Angkor, before wrapping up the adventure back in Thailand.
Highlights
- Discover the incredible Angkor Wat. As well as a guided tour, you'll also have a pass to cover your whole time in Siem Reap, so you can explore this UNESCO World Heritage temple complex as much and as often as you like!
- Take a two-day boat journey down the iconic Mekong River, passing incredible rural scenery – this is one of the must-dos to truly experience South East Asia.
- Immerse yourself in the Laos jungle as you walk side by side with recently rescued elephants on a stroll through their natural habitat.
- Sample local food wherever you go, from a seafood dinner on Ha Long Bay, street snacks at markets, a meal at a buddhist nunnery, coconut candy and tropical fruits in the Mekong Delta and dinner at KOTO restaurant.
- Learn about local culture in Kampong Luong and in the countryside around Battambang with a visit to a floating village and a bike ride around farms and cottage industries.

This was our first Intrepid trip and it was most enjoyable. Great balanced trip. Loved the excursions, we could not have planned those on our own. Local guides were awesome and we learned so much. We saw a lot in a short time and always felt safe. We would travel with Intrepid again!

Keep in mind that a day or more of each country in this loop will be wasted picking up new travelers. Group leaders will make a huge impact on your experience & they’re not all good. The lack of freedom in Vietnam & Cambodia negatively impacted my perception of the entire trip.

If you are looking for a cultural, historical and picturesque trip of Southeast Asia, this is your trip . And the food was 6 star on a scale to 5 .

There is so much to do and see in SE Asia, this 30 day loop is a fantastic way to get a flavour of the culture, history, landscape and amazing food on offer across four diverse and colourful countries. I loved every minute.

In my opinion, this trip is too short to fully appreciate South East Asia, particularly Vietnam and Thailand. I would highly recommend flying instead of doing the long bus journeys despite the expense to prevent burnout during a holiday. I would also recommend booking a few extra days in Thailand as the trip barely touches Thailand. I could also have used a few more days in Vietnam. I enjoyed the trip but I was also exhausted by the end of it.

A month of pure enjoyment. Don’t miss this trip - everything was perfect from the accommodations to the speed of travel and an amazing blend of city and nature

My wife and I had a great time on this trip. 30 days is a long time to be away but we did heaps of things on this trip. Walked with elephants, went up in hot air ballon, rode on the back of a scooter, rode a push bike through the country side, did a cooking class, cruised down the Mekong river, ate some great food, and meet some great people. Loved this trip but book a holiday on the beach to relax at the end.
